We are delighted to announce a call for symposium proposal for an upcoming scientific programme of the WONCA APR Conference 2027 theme “Family Doctors: The Heart of Quality Primary Healthcare” to be held over two and a half days from 22 – 25 April 2027 in Hong Kong.

A symposium is a themed session organised around a specific topic, bringing together multiple speakers who are coordinated in advance to deliver a series of related presentations. Typically involving two to three talks, the session is carefully structured so that each presentation builds on the others in a logical and coherent way. This format allows for a deeper exploration of the subject, often led by invited experts who provide diverse perspectives. In addition to the formal presentations, symposiums usually include a panel discussion and dedicated time for audience questions and answers, encouraging interactive dialogue and a more comprehensive understanding of the topic.

To submit a proposal, please include the session’s objectives, description, estimated audience size, and key themes or topics. The Conference Committee will provide the session slot, venue, and necessary equipment. Please note that the session organizer is responsible for coordinating the session and inviting speakers.

Symposium Proposal Submission Guidelines
Submit your abstract under ONE topic only. Do not submit the same proposal to multiple topics. Choose the best-fit topic where your work will be most appropriately considered.

1. Session Format
   • Duration: 45 minutes
   • Structure:
     • 2 - 3 formal presentations (10-15 minutes each)
     • Optional panel discussion (up to 30 minutes)
     • Audience Q&A for the remaining time
2. Symposium Structure
   Your proposal should include:
   • Title (maximum 20 words)
   • Session Description (maximum 300 words), addressing:
     • Why the topic is important
     • Intended outcomes (bullet or numbered format)
     • Format (e.g. interactive plenary, panel discussion, Q&A)
   • Topic (select from the 12 topics above)
   • Presenters (One to three expert presenters and/or one moderator, please indicate who will be the contact person)
     • Last Name, First Name
     • Email Address
     • Primary Institution and post
     • Academic qualifications
     • Indicate if the presenter is part of WONCA Special Interest Group
   • An outline of each presentation
   • Conflict of Interest (if any)
3. Submission Deadline
   • Proposals must be submitted in English by 15 November 2026 (Sunday) 23:59 HKT via the online submission portal.
4. Review Process
   • The Scientific Subcommittee will review all proposals using standard evaluation criteria, including:
     • Relevance to primary care
     • Novelty and innovation (e.g. new, up-to-date, or emerging)
     • Coherence and logical integration across the 2–3 presentations
     • Qualifications and expertise of the proposed speakers
   • Modifications to session titles or timings may be suggested.
5. Post-Acceptance Requirements
   • The contact person for each accepted proposal session will be required to submit a consolidated abstract of the session through the online submission portal at a later stage.
   • All presenters must complete registration within the pre-registration period.

Please note if your symposium proposal is not selected, the individual presentations within it will still be automatically considered for oral or poster presentation.
